For the USM Huskies baseball team Sunday was 'the best of times and the worst of times' at the NCAA Division III Regional in Syracuse. A win, a loss and in the end no college world series this year.

Needing to win two games against Oswego State to claim the regional title, the Huskies won the first game on a dramatic 9th inning 2-run home by Zach Quintal. USM won 7-6 to force the winner-take-all game.

The Lakers put two runs on the board in the 1st and in the 2nd inning, then put four runs up in the 5th inning. USM coach Ed flaherty used seven pitchers to try to keep the Lakers in check.

The title game finished a 9-4 win for Oswego and the Lakers will make their first ever CWS appearance.

USM finishes its season at 34-13.
