Two people have been shot at a Taft, CA high school according to early reports. The incident was reported around 9 am this morning. The school is on lock down. Parents are advised to come and pick up their children at the high school football field.

Three ambulances, a helicopter and SWAT teams are at the scene right now. The early reports indicate that the shooter is in custody.

According to the Kern Police Department the shooter used a shotgun. The shooter is thought to be a student, 16, at Taft Union School. The school has no history of prior violent attacks.

One of the two shot, is in critical but stable condition. The other person was a teacher, who sustained minor injuries and refused medical care.

Taft is a Southern town in California near San Joaquin Valley. No other details are released to the media at this time.
