Maine's Austin Theriault scored a 32nd place finish at the NASCAR Monster Energy Cup Series race Michigan Sunday afternoon.

Driving the Bangor Savings Bank #52 car for Rick Ware Racing, Theriault started the race in the #33 position and finished six laps behind when Kevin Harvick took the checkered flag.

There were five caution flags during the race and as usual at Michigan, the finish came down to fuel mileage as Harvick beat out several other racers who ran out of gas in the final laps.

Not a bad race for Theriault considering his best qualifying speed was 11 seconds slower than the pole sitter, Brad Kesolowski.

He picks up five points in the driver championship standings for his 32nd place finish.

NOTE: For trivia buffs, Theriault beat out seven-time NASCAR champion Jimmie Johnson who finished in 34th place after hitting the wall and damaging his car.
