The First Day of Spring 2013 – Yahoo!

Yes, today is the first official day of Spring, but it certainly doesn’t look like it!

We all dream of a nice calm breeze blowing through our hair, the sun shining, and of course listening to beautiful songbirds singing and chirping. But in reality, we live in Northern Maine and aren’t necessarily enjoying any of those things right at the moment.

It’s not because we don’t want to enjoy them… it’s just that we’re too busy cleaning up ten tons of mud that the dog and the kids have tracked into the house. We are trying to survive the dive-bombing of the houseflies that are crazy this time of year. We are simply trying to walk across our driveway without sinking 6 inches into the mud to go check the mail.

As messy as Spring is in Northern Maine, I wouldn’t have it any other way! I love the smells in the air, being able to go outside for walks, and even getting a little muddy… just not when I trip and fall in the driveway on my way to work… that’s no fun for anyone!
