The Veterans of Foreign Wars, Hayward-Frazier Post #2599, in cooperation with the Presque Isle Elks, Lodge #1954, the Aroostook Shrine Club, Crown Ambulance Service, and the Presque Isle Fire Department are teaming up to again provide a Thanksgiving-style dinner with live musical entertainment, free of charge, to all Veterans, current military service personnel and their families.
Maine Senator Susan Collins and 2nd District Congressman, Bruce Poliquin hosted Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) Under Secretary for Health David Shulkin on a tour Tuesday of Cary Medical Center and the co-located Community-Based Outpatient Clinic.
“We take care of our own,” said Harry Hafford, chairperson for the Northern Maine Veteran’s Cemetery in Caribou, a volunteer non-profit organization that champions the task of providing a resting place for veterans from the area; and a place for families to honor, and remember their loved ones.

It's the first of it's kind CompetitorME Run For Heroes to be held in Presque Isle on Saturday, May 9th, 2015.
The event kicks off at 9:00 a.m. at Riverside Park. It's a Kids’ 1-mile Fun Run and 5k Run/Walk to support current and past U.S. service members.
