Snowfall

On the heels of a significant snow event Sunday that left 6 - 10 inches across much of Aroostook County, a winter storm is expected to hit the area even harder on Tuesday.

A powerful storm surprised some parts of Aroostook County with up to a foot-and- half of snow Sunday, breaking records for the day.  Here are unofficial snowfall totals around the area, as compiled by the National Weather Service in Caribou:

The snow arrived earlier than normal in Aroostook County this year.

This winter has made the top 10 list of the snowiest on record in northern Maine, based on snowfall totals from the National Weather Service Office in Caribou.

The northern Maine landscape is in prime condition for skiing and snowmobiling heading into the New Year after an exceptionally snowy start to the winter.
