Presque Isle will soon to be the center of international sports attention as the 2016 IBU World Cup Biathlon comes to the city.

Three new corporate sponsors have been named in support of the Nordic Heritage Center and the upcoming World Cup Biathlon event

In the midst of the 2014 Youth/Junior Biathlon World Championships, the Biathlon committee overheard that IBU Race Director, Borut Nunar's dream was to one day drive a tractor trailer truck. Well, the staff at the Northern Maine Community College stepped in and made a dream come true.

An event like the 2014 Youth/Junior Biathlon World Championships at the Nordic Heritage Center in Presque Isle is no small task to pull off. In addition to the generous support of all of the sponsors, over 400 volunteers are helping to make this event run smoothly.

If you happen to drive through the city, or even the side streets for that matter, you'll notice a lot of runners in multi-colored sports gear. These are world-class athletes

The 2014 IBU Youth/Junior Biathlon World Championships in Presque Isle are just over a month away, and organizers say more athletes than expected will be competing in the event.

The International Biathlon Union paid a visit to the Nordic Heritage Center in Presque Isle today not only to do lots of important pointing, but also inspect and prepare for the 2014 biathlon.

The countdown is on and now very visible for Aroostook County’s hosting of the 2014 IBU Youth/Junior Biathlon World Championships in Presque Isle. Event officials and partners gathered exactly one year to the date of the start of the international event, which will be hosted at the Nordic Heritage Center in the Star City.
