There is some good news in regards to recent flooding in our area. Some rivers in the area seem to be receding.

Rivers flooding their banks in our area have been a common occurrence this week, and in anticipation of rising water, Perth-Andover's Mayor is calling for a voluntary evacuation of the village.

Parts of Aroostook County have essentially been cut off to the rest of world after rising flood waters spread throughout the area.

An Aroostook County man has died after he was swept away by rushing waters on a flooded road in Caswell.

If you live in Aroostook County or Western New Brunswick, for the second day in a row, your news feed is probably being bombarded with photos and videos of flooded roads, rivers and streams.

There have been multiple reports of road closures across Aroostook County as of Tuesday evening. The majority of the issues are coming from melting snow pack running off into the roads and causing things as small as water in the road to complete washouts of pavement and culverts.

The Spring thaw may have taken longer than normal, but it is certainly in full swing now. River Watch 2014 issued the following ice movement and flood watch on Tuesday.

The ice melt is on with the recent mild temperatures in Northern Maine, and the National Weather Service Office in Caribou has issued a flood watch. The NWS says there will be an increased ice jam flood threat from Monday through Wednesday.

Just north of the Crouseville Cemetery on the Washburn Road, melting snow forced Washburn Fire and Rescue to close the road temporarily.
