The balloonist who lifted off in the early morning fog from Caribou on what he hoped would be a trans-Atlantic flight was forced to land in Newfoundland early Thursday evening.

After a long wait for the weather to be just right Jonathan Trappe took to the skies from Caribou, Maine on his trans-Atlantic flight in a gondola carried only by helium balloons.
