Twenty-five species are endangered in Maine. Conservation efforts are underway to protect them.

As the weather continues to warm up, hummingbirds are slowly making their way back to their breeding grounds up north. Thanks to an interactive map provided by Hummingbird Central, we can see where these birds are being spotted throughout the country, including in New England.

'Big J' tells the story of how was driving down the road with some buddies, when he spotted two yellow songbirds in the road. He recalls them "actin' weird". One was apparently lying on the ground, "actin' dead" while clinging to a stick. What 'Big J' does next, might just make your heart burst.

The Black-Capped Chickadee may be our official State Bird, but it's not the most commonly-seen bird in Maine. That honor goes to the Red-Eyed Vireo.
