Another early blast of winter will hit northern Maine on Monday, dumping up to a foot of snow in some areas.

The National Weather Service office in Caribou has issued a Winter Weather Advisory for all of Aroostook County and northern Washington and Penobscot Counties from early Monday morning until Monday evening.

Forecasters say snow accumulations should range from 6 to 10 inches across most of the state, with snow mixing with rain along the coast.

Temperatures will climb to near 20° F by Monday afternoon. Expect wind gusts up to 20 mph and with mostly powdery snow, it will lead to difficult driving conditions at times. Forecasters say the snow should taper to snow showers by early evening.

Since the first measurable snow of the season three weeks ago, Caribou has recorded 34 inches of snowfall, compared to only 7 inches at this time last year.
