It's still October, but brace yourself, the first significant snowstorm of 2014 is expected to arrive in New Brunswick over the weekend.

According to Environment Canada, A significant low pressure weather system will pass south of Nova Scotia on Saturday and Sunday, bringing a major snowstorm with it.

Precipitation is expected to start as rain on Saturday. As northerly winds develop Saturday night and Sunday bringing colder air, some parts of New Brunswick could see significant snowfall.

This weather system could affect many parts of New Brunswick, including Woodstock and most of Carleton County.

The weather statement does not yet say how much snow could fall in each region.

The public is advised to monitor future forecasts and warnings as warnings may be required or extended.
