Shire-Warrior Invitational Accepting Teams For June Tournament
Basketball teams and players looking to improve during the offseason have another opportunity to get on the court and compete this summer. The first ever Shire-Warrior Invitational Summer Round Robin was announced on Monday, and will be held this June.
Inaugural Shire-Warrior Invitational
The Shire-Warrior Invitational is a conjunction between Houlton high school and Southern Aroostook community school, taking place on June 24-25. Boys' teams competing will play their games at Houlton high school, and the girls' games will take place at Southern Aroostook in Dyer Brook.
This round robin format will guarantee teams play at least four games with IAABO board officials refereeing. Games will be (2) 14-minute halves with stopped time. The Shire-Warrior Invitational has an entry fee of $200 per team.
Summer basketball is a great opportunity for players to sharpen their skills and to work on aspects of their game they'd like to improve ahead of the next season. This is also a great opportunity for fringe players to show their teammates and coaches what they are capable of. There's another tournament option the same weekend
The 2022 UMFK Summer Classic will take place on the same weekend, June 24-26 in Fort Kent. This will be the seventh UMFK Summer Classic with 28 teams, in total, competing. Seven teams from Aroostook County will be competing along with teams from central and Downeast Maine, and one team from Seattle, WA. There are limited spots available for this tournament and if you are interested in entering a team, contact Tom Bird at Thomas.Bird@maine.edu
