According to Maine State Police Sgt. Brian Harris, 27-year-old Dustin Bouchard of Winterville was traveling north on Route 11 in a Department of Conservation truck around 6:45 a.m.  19-year-old Travis Powers of Presque Isle was headed south in a pickup owned by Irving Woodlands.

Police say Bouchard’s truck hydroplaned on the wet roadway and he lost control, crossed the median and struck Powers’ vehicle head-on. Emergency personnel from the Eagle Lake Fire Department had to use the Jaws of Life to free Bouchard and Powers from the wreckage.

Powers suffered serious internal injuries and broken bones and was transported to Northern Maine Medical Center in Fort Kent in critical condition. He was later flown to Eastern Maine Medical in Bangor.

Bouchard suffered internal injuries and was taken to Northern Maine Medical in stable condition.

Route 11 in Eagle Lake was closed for several hours.  Both vehicles are considered a total loss. The crash remains under investigation.
