Rams Win First Class AA Tourney Game

The #5 Bangor Rams built up a double digit lead over the #4 Cheverus Stags and then had to hang on for a 46-44 win in the quarterfinal round of the Class AA North Tournament.

Senior post player Katie Butler dominated play for much of the game as her Rams led by 16 points at the half and by 11 after three quarters. She had 18 points through three quarters.

But then the Cheverus comeback was on. The Stags forced double digit turnovers in the in the final eight minutes. The Rams struggled with free throws (3-for-13 in the fourth quarter). It all led to a photo finish.

A Lauren Young three-pointer gave Bangor its final lead.

The Stags took a corner three-pointer at the buzzer for the win but it hit the rim and fell off.

The Rams had their first playoff win in Class AA and gets ready to take on #1 Oxford Hills Tuesay at 5:30pm in the semi-final.

Butler led Bangor with 20 points. Lauren Young added 12

Abby Cavallero led the Stags with 25.
