Presque Isle Rotary Club Auction Raises Nearly $80,000

Following some big changes, the Presque Isle Rotary Club celebrated a successful  72nd Annual Rotary Auction.

After switching to an fully online format, bidders and donors rallied behind the event raising nearly $30,000. The funds raised will go towards four community causes chosen by the Rotary Club. They are Nordic Heritage Center, Quoggy Jo Ski Center, Presque Isle Youth Hockey and the Presque Isle Rotary Scholarship.

More than 400 items were donated by local businesses and auctioned off. The online bidding through Gregg Auctions ended on Friday, November 8. Also, an auction celebration evening was generously hosted by the Hampton Inn in Presque Isle where Rotarians and other community leaders gathered to support the final hours of the auction and continue to gather donations towards this year’s Community Project, the Going Places Network PI Loop.

The auction celebration evening also included a Pies for Polio event where local community members volunteered to get donations from the community to either get a pie in the face or be saved from getting a pie in the face. The six Pies for Polio volunteers included Dick Palm, Leigh Smith, Chief Laurie Kelly, Todd Saucier, Sherry Sullivan, and Ben Greenlaw. All got a pie in the face, all in good fun.. This effort raised an additional $1,300.
