Police have been forced to arrest an obsessed Miley Cyrus fan who traveled from his hometown near Milwaukee to Los Angeles to try to force a meeting with a pop star, according to TMZ.

The site says the man traveled across the country after leaving Cyrus a series of bizarre messages that include his plan to execute a "horrific act" that would make it onto the news. He also made reference to Cyrus' betrothed, Liam Hemsworth, and the posts eventually got so intense that one concerned citizen ultimately alerted Milwaukee police, leading to the man's arrest.

Most of the posts went live on Facebook a couple of weeks ago.

Milwaukee police ultimately alerted the LAPD to the messages, and the proper authorities found and arrested the man on Monday (February 12) and had him undergo psychiatric evaluation. They can legally detain him until Wednesday.

One of the disturbing social media posts issued from the man to Cyrus reads: "I got your address like you insisted. I know which way to enter and thank you for getting rid of Liam. I don't want your money obviously...This is how we fall in love...I don't need medication. I wish more of you had an open mind. All things will be self evident and to create a new world I have the most horrific act I must complete. It will be on the news and it is sad."
