Shortly before 10 p.m., a passing motorist reported that a pick-up truck had crashed on the High Meadow Road, according to a press release from Maine State Trooper Chuck Michaud.

Caribou Fire & Ambulance responded to the scene and determined that the driver has passed away.  State Police identified the victim as 40-year-old Mark Skidgel of Perham.

The initial investigation revealed that Skidgel was traveling east on High Meadow Road when his 1998 Dodge Dakota drifted off the roadway, struck a culvert, rolled over, and ended up on its side, Michaud said.  Skidgel was not wearing a seat belt and was partially ejected from the vehicle.

The cause of the crash has yet to be determined and remains under investigation.  Trooper Travis Luce is the lead investigator and was assisted at the scene by Troopers Hafford, Stoutamyer, and Michaud.
