NMCC Students Attend National Convention In Nashville

The officers and advisor of Phi Theta Kappa at Northern Maine Community College recently attended the honor society’s national convention in Nashville, Tennessee. 

The convention took place at the Gaylord Opryland Resort and Convention Center where a series of educational forums took place including personal and professional development, team building, leadership and networking.  The overall goal of the event is to inspire personal, academic and career development in the participants so that PTK members may serve their campus communities and expand their positive leadership in the world.

Those in attendance were encouraged to cultivate their potential by identifying their passion and fearlessly taking advantage of the opportunities given to them.

Representing NMCC were Vice President Genesis Hart; Public Relations officer Damaris Duarte; Fundraising officer Heidi Wright, former Vice President Dave Craw and Advisor Eric Pelkey.

Phi Theta Kappa is the international honor society for students at two-year colleges and this year’s convention theme was transform your chapter—transform yourself.  The mission of PTK is to recognize academic achievement of college students and to provide opportunities for them to grow as scholars and leaders.
