Maine State Police have charged a woman with murder in connection with the death of her 2-year-old daughter.  24-year-old Leanna Norris was taken into custody this morning at a medical facility in Rockport where she had been receiving treatment.

The arrest follows an indictment returned last week by a Penobscot County Grand Jury.

State Police detectives say the death occurred in the town of Newport in the late evening on June 23rd. The girl’s body was discovered in Norris’ car several hours late in Stetson, just northwest of Bangor..

Although the manner of death is still pending, the State Medical Examiner has ruled the death of 2-year-old Loh Melody Grenda a homicide.
