Did you know that May Day falls exactly half a year from November 1? Pretty cool stuff!

May Day typically is celebrated to welcome spring.  Children often make May Baskets at school. In the past these baskets have been filled with flowers or treats and left at someone's doorstep. The giver rings the bell and runs away. The person receiving the basket tries to catch the fleeing giver. If they catch the person, a kiss is exchanged. Scandalous stuff!

Did you know that in Hawaii, May Day is called “Lei Day”? It is a day set aside to celebrate island culture in general and native Hawaiian culture in particular. The first “Lei Day” was proposed in 1927. There is even a song about it! Check out the video!

How are you celebrating May Day? I mean, we’re not in Hawaii after all!
