At about 4 p.m., residents called 911 to report having seen a body floating in the river, according to Cpl. Peter MacLean.  Members of the Codiac Regional RCMP, as well as firefighters from the Moncton, Riverview and Dieppe fire departments assisted in the recovery of the body. The Codiac RCMP Forensic Identification Unit and provincial coroner also attended the scene.

Police have confirmed that the body is that of a man. An autopsy will be performed to help determine his identity and cause of death, MacLean said on Thursday.

The investigation is ongoing.
