
Man Charged after Firing Gun at Cars and Police Standoff in Maine
A 25-year-old man was arrested Tuesday night and charged after firing a gun at passing vehicles and an armed standoff in Lewiston.
Criminal Charges
Troy Blanchard was taken into custody and charged with reckless conduct with a firearm, creating a police standoff, unlawful drug possession and possession of a firearm by prohibited person.
“Firing Gun at Passing Vehicles”
The Lewiston Police Department said Blanchard was “firing a gun at passing vehicles in the area of Horton Street and Walnut Street” around 9:40 pm.
Suspect Entered Unoccupied Car with Gun
Blanchard got in an unoccupied vehicle with a gun when officers arrived.
Police Used Non-Lethal Force
After a long standoff, police used non-lethal force to remove him from the vehicle.
Ongoing Investigation
No injuries were reported. The investigation remains open.
