Suzanne E. Muscara, 37, has been charged in federal court for mailing starch to Senator Collins’ husband, Thomas Daffron, with a letter that claimed to have been coated in “ricin residue,”. While it was addressed to her husband, the letters message dictated that it was aimed at Collins. In the letter she says "‘Good Luck to you and Susan in the next life’ and stated ‘Your wife has betrayed the people of Maine along with the American people and this will be her downfall.’”

Two days later Muscara allegedly mailed a second letter which contained a white powder, however that letter did not make it past the Post office's sorting facility. If convicted, Muscara faces up to 10 years in federal prison and a fine of up to $250,000. Her trial begins at 2:30 today, April 8.
