Troop F of the Maine State Police responded to 106 calls for service this past week in and around Aroostook County. Here is a sampling from the Troop’s weekly report:

Incident Type: K-9 ACTIVITY Date: 3/19/2018 Town: PRESQUE ISLE Trooper: TR. LEVESQUE Brief Synopsis: Tr Levesque and Canine Vitz were called to assist Presque Isle PD to track a male who had just stabbed a worker at the homeless shelter. While in route the team was cancelled and PIPD called out their K9.

Incident Type: HARASSMENT/TRESPASSING Date: 3/20/2018 Town: EASTON Trooper: TR. KILCOLLINS Brief Synopsis: Tr. Kilcollins investigated a harassment complaint in Easton. A man has continually gone to the Amish store in Easton harassing the owners regarding what he feels is violation of food laws. Tr. Kilcollins located the man and he stated he wanted to start making his own cheese but could not get licensed through the State. The man said the Amish is not abiding by the rules set forth by the Department of Agriculture and although he has made several complaints nothing is being done. Tr. Kilcollins warned the man for trespassing and explained to him the owners do not want him on the property. The man was cooperative with Tr. Kilcollins.

Incident Type: ACCIDENT Date: 3/21/2018 Town: CROSS LAKE Trooper: TR. DESROSIER Brief Synopsis: Tr. Desrosier responded to a crash involving a snowmobile and a vehicle on a private road in Cross Lake. The 20-year-old man operating the snowmobile was driving west and a pickup being operated by a 56-year-old female was driving east. The man did not see the oncoming pickup due to a curve in the road and they collided. The sled driver was transported to the hospital in Fort Kent for non-life threatening injuries. The woman was not injured.

Incident Type: OAS Date: 3/21/2018 Town: T11 R4 Trooper: TR. PESCITELLI Brief Synopsis: Tr Pescitelli made a traffic stop in T11 R4. As a result of the stop, Tr Pescitelli summonsed the 52-year-old male operator for OAS.

Incident Type: WARRANT ARREST Date: 3/21/2018 Town: OAKFIELD Trooper: TR. ADAMS Brief Synopsis: Tr Adams was conducting a warrant check in Oakfield. Tr Adams checked at a subject’s residence and found he was not home. Tr Adams then drove a short distance and met the male walking along the road. Tr Adams stopped and picked the 50 year old male up on the warrant and transported him to ACJ.

Incident Type: SPEAKING ENGAGEMENT Date: 3/21/2018 Town: DYER BROOK Trooper: TR. ADAMS Brief Synopsis: Tr Adams gave a talk to a driver education class at Southern Aroostook High School about the dangers of distracted driving.

Incident Type: K-9 ACTIVITY Date: 3/23/2018 Town: PRESQUE ISLE Trooper: TR. LEVESQUE Brief Synopsis: Tr Levesque and Canine Vitz were called to assist Presque Isle PD with locating two individuals who took off on foot from a trailer. The male had a $15,000 warrant for drug trafficking and was last seen running to the rear of the trailer. The male had lost one of his shoes a short distance from the trailer. The female had a $500 warrant for OAS and was last seen running in front of the trailer down road in the trailer park. Canine Vitz was casted to the rear of the trailer first around foot impressions in the snow. Vitz began tracking and tracked into the woods down a steep embankment to the shore of a river. Vitz located the male in a large spruce tree about 50 yards from the trailer. The man refused to come down from the tree and after Tr. Stetson was about to climb up the tree he came down. The male was arrested and handed over to Presque Isle PD. Vitz was brought back to where the female was last seen and casted in that area. Vitz tracked for almost ¾ of a mile which included crossing the same road to a clearing where the female was seen walking along the edge of a clearing. The woman was confronted and arrested without incident.

Incident Type: OUI Date: 3/24/2018 Town: LITTLETON Trooper: CPL. QUINT Brief Synopsis: Cpl. Quint responded to a reported crash on the West Ridge Road, Littleton. A passerby reported finding a pickup in a field that appeared to have gone off the roadway and rolled over. Cpl. Quint located the male driver, who was not injured, and while speaking with him determined the man was intoxicated. The man was arrested for OUI and transported to the Aroostook County Jail in Houlton. He was held on a sober release and could post bail in the morning.

Incident Type: K-9 ACTIVITY Date: 3/25/2018 Town: FORT FAIRFIELD Trooper: TR. LEVESQUE Brief Synopsis: Tr. Levesque and Canine Vitz were called for an exterior sniff of a vehicle in Fort Fairfield. Tr. Levesque arrived and recognized the driver and knew that he was suspended. The man had given the Fort Fairfield Officer his brother’s name. Vitz performed an exterior sniff of the vehicle and he did not alert. Inside the vehicle, a female that was recently arrested by Fort Fairfield for possession when Vitz found heroin in her possession. She was on bail and she was removed from the vehicle and searched by Tr. Levesque. Tr. Levesque was unable to find anything other than paraphernalia in her belongings. Just as she was about to leave, Tr. Levesque noticed a small baggie of what he believed to be heroin where she was just standing. The woman was placed under arrest for possession of heroin again and brought to Fort Fairfield PD. While sitting in the booking room the woman kept moving around and had attempted to hide heroin and meth in a tissue. At the PD, she was searched by a female Border Patrol agent and more heroin was found. She was charged with furnishing heroin and meth.
