Maine State Police Troop ‘F’ Weekly Report (April 2 – 8)
Troop F of the Maine State Police responded to 129 calls for service this past week in and around Aroostook County. Here is a sampling from the Troop’s weekly report:
Incident Type: OAS Date: 4/01/2018 Town: MARS HILL Trooper: TR. PESCITELLI Brief Synopsis: Tr Pescitelli was monitoring traffic in Mars Hill and he ran a registration plate of a vehicle that passed him. Tr Pescitelli found that the female registered owner was under suspension. Tr Pescitelli followed the vehicle into a driveway and identified the operator as being the female owner and he summonsed her for OAS.
Incident Type: OAS Date: 4/02/2018 Town: HOULTON Trooper: TR. ADAMS Brief Synopsis: Tr Adams was parked monitoring traffic in Houlton and he observed a car pull into the Circle K driveway and the plate light was not working properly. Tr Adams observed a male operator go into the store and return to the car and drive off. Tr. Adams stopped the car for the violation and found the 27-year-old male was under suspension. Tr Adams summonsed the male for the violation and a female passenger drove the vehicle from the scene.
Incident Type: OAS Date: 4/02/2018 Town: HODGDON Trooper: TR. BELL Brief Synopsis: Tr Bell was parked and observed a 27-year-old male driving a vehicle and Tr Bell knew this man was under suspension. Tr Bell followed the male into his driveway and issued him a summons for OAS.
Incident Type: OAS Date: 4/02/2018 Town: CARIBOU Trooper: TR. PESCITELLI Brief Synopsis: Tr Pescitelli was patrolling in Caribou and stopped a vehicle and found that the 27-year-old female operator was under suspension. Tr Pescitelli summonsed her for OAS.
Incident Type: WELL-BEING CHECK Date: 4/03/2018 Town: GRAND ISLE Trooper: CPL. MICHAUD Brief Synopsis: A Grand Isle man requested that a welfare check be conducted on a friend of his who had not shown up for a scheduled dinner meeting the day before. The person’s residence was approximately 2 miles from the road and not accessible by cruiser. The complainant met with Cpl. Michaud had drove him into the location with a 4-wheel drive truck. Eventually, the person was located and turned out to be fine.
Incident Type: WARRANT Date: 4/04/2018 Town: MAPLETON Trooper: SGT. CLARK Brief Synopsis: Sgt. Clark was working an overtime shift. He received a request for a well-being check in Mapleton. During the investigation, he found that two of the people involved had current bail conditions. Sgt. Clark contacted the Cumberland County District Attorney’s office to see if the two people were allowed contact and learned that one was supposed to appear in court today but did not. The District Attorney said the Judge issued a warrant for the man’s arrest; Sgt. Clark arrested the man and he was transported to the Aroostook County Jail in Houlton.
Incident Type: OUI Date: 4/05/2018 Town: SAINT AGATHA Trooper: TR. DESROSIER Brief Synopsis: Tr. Desrosier was conducting traffic enforcement in Saint Agatha and stopped a vehicle for a violation, the male driver was suspected of being impaired; after an investigation and Field Sobriety Testing the man was arrested for OUI.
Incident Type: ASSIST ANOTHER AGENCY Date: 4/05/2018 Town: ISLAND FALLS Trooper: TR. CASAVANT Brief Synopsis: Tr. Casavant responded to assist Penobscot Sheriff's Office in a motor vehicle pursuit that originated in Patten. At one point during the pursuit, the vehicle swerved to hit the Penobscot County cruiser. The vehicle eventually was stopped in Island Falls and the subject was taken into custody without incident.
Incident Type: ASSIST ANOTHER AGENCY Date: 4/06/2018 Town: FORT KENT Trooper: TR. CURTIN Brief Synopsis: Tr. Curtin assisted Fort Kent PD and Probation and Parole with locating a male for arrest. The man was located at a local apartment building and was arrested on outstanding warrants and violation of probation. He had recently been released from jail.
Incident Type: CRIMINAL SPEED Date: 4/07/2018 Town: MONTICELLO Trooper: SGT. CLARK Brief Synopsis: Sgt. Clark was conducting traffic enforcement on US Highway 1, Monticello, when he observed a vehicle driving 90 mph in a posted 55 mph zone. Sgt. Clark stopped the vehicle for the excessive speed and during the stop he noticed the occupants had been smoking marijuana inside the moving vehicle. He asked who had the marijuana and the 17-year-old front passenger gave marijuana and rolling papers to Sgt. Clark; he was issued a summons for the drug violation. The 20-year-old driver was issued a criminal summons for criminal speed.
Incident Type: OUI Date: 4/07/2018 Town: FORT KENT Trooper: TR. DESROSIER Brief Synopsis: Tr. Desrosier stopped a vehicle for a traffic infraction in Fort Kent. During the stop, Tr. Desrosier suspected the driver was impaired by liquor. After an investigation and Field Sobriety Testing the male driver was arrested for OUI
Incident Type: OAS Date: 4/07/: SMYRNA Trooper: SGT. CLARK Brief Synopsis: Sgt. Clark was driving on Interstate 95, Smyrna, and observed a vehicle stopped in the breakdown lane. Sgt. Clark stopped to assist the driver and discovered the male driver had a suspended driver’s license for failing to maintain liability insurance. Sgt. Clark issued the man a criminal summons for OAS and gave him and his son a ride to the Houlton McDonald’s. The vehicle’s owner came and retrieved the vehicle.
Incident Type: SUSPICIOUS INCIDENT/ WARRANT ARREST Date: 4/07/2018 Town: PORTAGE Trooper: CPL. HAFFORD/ TR CASAVANT Brief Synopsis: Cpl Hafford received a call from a homeowner in Portage who was on vacation about someone being in her garage. Cpl Hafford called her and found that a neighbor had seen a local man walking out of her garage and she did not know him and had not allowed anyone to be on her property. The male had 2 active arrest warrants. After investigating at the residence, Cpl Hafford and Tr Casavant drove to the male’s residence and found him at home. The male stated that he had gone to help the owner’s nephew clean his pickup in the garage. Cpl Hafford called the homeowner and she confirmed that she would speak to her nephew and did not want any further legal action done. Tr Casavant arrested the male on the 2 active warrants and transported him to Ashland PD for processing.
