
2026 Maine Primary Election Results
While several races are headed for a ranked-choice tabulation, including the Governor's race in both parties, there were some clear winners in Tuesday's Primary election.
Maine Election 2026, Maine Senate Race is Platner vs Collins
Graham Platner has won the Democratic nomination for the U.S. Senate and will face off against Susan Collins, who ran uncontested for the Republican seat.
US Senate Race (Democrats)
- Graham Platner 135,344 (72.3%)
- Janet Mills 36,336 (19.4%)
- David Costello 15,592 (8.3%)
WGME-TV reports the Associated Press called the race at around 9:30 pm, with Platner receiving nearly 75% of the votes.
Maine Election 2026 Governor's Race Headed to Be Decided by Ranked Choice
Nirav Shah holds the lead in the Democratic Primary for Governor, but the race is too close to call and will go to a ranked-choice tabulation.
According to the BDN:
Maine Gubernatorial Race (Democrats) with 90% of polling places reporting:
- Nirav Shah 50,522 (26.7%)
- Hannah Pingree 44,190 (23.4%)
- Troy Jackson 40,016 (21.1%)
- Shenna Bellows 39,151 (20.7%)
- Angus King II 15,455 (8.2%)
On the Republican side of the Governor's race, Bobby Charles holds the lead, but again, the decision is headed to a ranked-choice tabulation.
Maine Gubernatorial Race (Republican)
- Bobby Charles 38,374 (37.1%)
- Jonathan Bush 20,951 (20.9%)
- Ben Midgley 20,757 (20.1%)
- Garrett Mason 11,730 (11.4%)
- Owen McCarthy 4,098 (4%)
- David Jones 3,192 (3.1%)
- Robert Wessels 2,660 (2.6%)
- James Libby 1,558 (1.5%)
Chellie Pingree, who ran unopposed, won the Democratic primary for the U.S. House of Representatives seat, 1st Congressional District.
Maine Election 2026 U.S. House of Representatives Results
Ronald Russell won the Republican seat, defeating Joshua Pietrowicz in a close race, taking 55% of the votes.
- Ronald Russell 23.216 (54.4%)
- Joshua Pietrowicz 19,439 (45.6%)
The Democratic race for U.S. House of Representatives, 2nd Congressional District, will also be decided by ranked-choice voting.
- Joe Baldacci 19,155 (30.8%)
- Matthew Dunlap 18,456 (29.7%)
- Jordan Wood 17,994 (28.9%)
- Paige Loud 6,564 (10.6%)
The winner of that race will take on former Governor Paul LePage, who ran unopposed.
