(AP) — The Maine Department of Labor's Rapid Response Team is working with employees of the Verso Corp.'s Androscoggin Mill in Jay to prepare them for upcoming layoffs.

Last month Verso announced that it would lay off about 190 workers and idle one of its paper machines, a digester and recovery boiler that support the machine in the first quarter of 2017.

The Department of Labor's Julie Rabinowitz, says the expected layoff dates are between Jan. 12 and 26, but that has not been finalized.

The Lewiston Sun Journal reports the response team is expected to go over unemployment insurance in general terms, when affected employees can file, how to apply and how much they can get.

The employees will also learn about the job search process.
