For the first time its 14-year history, the Maine Celtics are headed to the NBA G-League Finals.

The Celtics, the G-League affiliate of the NBA's Boston Celtics, took down the Long Island Nets 99-77, in the Eastern Conference Finals. The win sent Maine into the finals for the first time in franchise history.

It has been a remarkable year for Maine, who finished the regular season with the second-best record in the conference. The Celtics received a bye for the first round of the playoffs, followed by a 119-112 win over Delaware Blue Coats. The win meant Maine would match up against longtime rival the Long Island.

The Eastern Conference Final was a knockdown drag out for the first three quarters. Maine held a one-point leading heading into the final quarter, and that's when the fireworks began.

The Celtics would go on to outscore Long Island 38-17 and win the conference going away. It was one heck of a night to be at the Portland Expo to witness this history being made.

Maine was led by DJ Steward, who score 19 or his 32 points in the 4th quarter. The team also got a Herculean effort from JD Davison, who went for 19 points and 11 assists, while still hampered by a sprained ankle.

The Celtics now get ready to square off against the Oklahoma City Blue in the best-of-three NBA G-League Finals. Game 1 will be played at the Portland Expo on Tuesday, April 9. Game 2 will be in Oklahoma on Thursday, April 11, with Game 3 back in Maine on Monday, Aprill 15, if necessary.

Tickets are available now for the championship games. They are available on the Maine Celtics website.

Congrats to Maine on this trip to the NBA G-League Finals. Let's pack the Expo to make sure they get the support they deserve.
