We all love babies. They're so cute and cuddly.  Did you ever wonder what was happening before that baby?  I'm talking about 40 weeks before the delivery of your bundle of love.

Here's another thought.  Have you ever run into someone with the same birthday as you?  Statistics say there's a 50% chance that in a random group of 23 people, two will have the same birthday, according to usatoday.com.

This phenomenon is the "birthday paradox", and you can read about it at scientificamerican.com.

If you are curious about the most common birth months here in New England, you'll have to look at all 50 states, depending on where you live.

In the south and a good part of the U.S., September is the most popular month for births. But in New England, that's not the case.

Why September?  Look at all the celebrating going on nine months prior over the holidays.

According to vividmaps.com, June is the most common month for births in New Hampshire and Maine.  It seems the fall leaves of October are not just good for sipping pumpkin lattes.

For Vermont, Massachusetts, and Connecticut, the most common birth month is July, and Rhode Island birthdays fall more in August than any other month.

Other than New York, the northernmost states celebrate birthdays in June or July. However, southern states are in September. Nationwide, the most popular birth month is September, but parents in New England love those summer birthday parties, for sure.
