Ice-T Coy About ‘New Jack City’ Sequel and ‘New York Undercover’ Update
There has been some rumors around Hollywood that a sequel to New Jack City could be in the works. The 26-year-old iconic film launched the careers of Wesley Snipes, Chris Rock and Ice-T.
At the TV Guide party in celebration of Law & Order: SVU’s reaching its 400th episode, Ice-T was coy about whether a New Jack City II would happen or not.
“Just to be around, me and Wesley and Chris Rock to be still in the game, it’s a blessing,” the veteran rapper-actor told BOSSIP. “It’s been talked about. A New Jack two has been talked about."
Rumors have also surfaced about bringing back Fox's 1994 series, New York Undercover, a show produced by Ice-T's good friend and boss Dick Wolf. "A New York Undercover sequel has been talked about [too]," he said. "Maybe I could be captain over there. You never know. you just gotta stay around and the game will come to you.”
Hopefully, we'll see these two projects come to fruition. In the meantime, Ice-T is enjoying his run on L&O:SVU. He's been a regular on the program since the second season; the series is in its 18th season. The 58-year-old dad credits the show's longevity with how they deal with social issues that affect people's lives.
“The topics we deal with are real; we’re dealing with survivors,” he said (via Vogue). “This is therapy for a lot of people. They don’t just watch the show for entertainment, this is helpful [for them], and it’s very rare that you’re going to come up with content that’s going to stick with people.”
