Could Maine Be Next for This ‘Uber for Kids’ Service?
Many of us do not know something like this exists, but it does, and honestly, we’re kind of amazed.
It’s called HopSkipDrive, folks are referring to it as the Uber for Kids. Yep! A rideshare company created specifically for driving kids where they need to go.
Are you panicking yet? Well, let me explain the company before you immediately say no.
According to their website, they are "driving school transportation into the future."
This is offered for schools and families.
The "Uber for Kids"? Meet the Rideshare Service Designed Just for Children
This isn’t just any random person driving your child around. According to their site, they are called CareDrivers who attend a very serious vetting process.
They go through full background checks, fingerprinting, driving records are accessed and looked over and most importantly, they go through a child abuse screening.
In addition to that, they have to have at least five full years of being in the child caregiving field. So this isn’t just like a babysitter with a driver’s license. The website also states that the drivers are, "are parents, grandparents, babysitters, former teachers, and more who each have at least five years of caregiving experience."
Here's a little bit from their website,
"We fill school transportation gaps. Our network of highly vetted CareDrivers in small vehicles supplements existing services like yellow buses, providing support when and where schools and riders need it most."
The site also says that parents have to book the drive at least 8 hours before. They are also able to track the ride the drive through the app with real-time GPS.
In addition to tracking, there is also a safety word provided that the child and driver will exchange to confirm identity.

Is HopSkipDrive available in Maine?
Not yet. However, it’s already available in 16 states and expanding, so we may see this travel up here.
And also, listen, I get it. It can be scary but because parents are so busy these days and we are evolving with rideshares, didn’t you expect this to come sooner or later? What do you think?
