Shortly before 12:30 a.m., State Police attempted to stop a 2007 black Chevy pickup truck for speeding on Fort Street in Mars Hill. State police say the driver failed to stop and Trooper Rob Flynn and Sgt. Josh Haines pursued the truck at speeds of over 100 mph.

The chase continued north on Route 1A through Easton and into Fort Fairfield, where the suspect turned onto Route 167 and then the Conant Road. Fort Fairfield Police laid down spike mats in the road, disabling the truck's four tires. State police said the truck continued—although at a slower speed—and headed back onto Route 1A for a short distance before turning onto a field road and getting stuck in the grass.

The driver, Jonathan Holt of Hartford, Maine was taken into custody early Friday. He is charged with OUI, eluding a police officer, passing a roadblock and driving to endanger.  Police say Holt's vehicle sustained some damage.
