Chaka Khan is a diva of the highest order. The soul legend has been making classic music since the 1970s, when she was the frontwoman for funk band Rufus. They charted repeatedly with hits like "Tell Me Something Good" (penned by Stevie Wonder), "Hollywood," and "You Got the Love;" establishing Chaka as one of the definitive voices of the decade.

In the 1980s, she went off on her own and continued to score hit after hit. Songs like her cover of Prince's "I Feel For You," "Through the Wire" and "You Can Make the Story Right" cemented her legacy as one of the greatest of her generation.

Chaka celebrates turning 63 today (March 23) so it's as good a time as any to revisit the greatness of the woman born Yvette Stevens.
