‘Game of Thrones’ Star Maisie Williams Teases Season 7 Cliffhanger
Game of Thrones isn’t necessarily known for its seasonal cliffhangers (Season 5 was more “did that really happen?” than “what happens next?”), but might the penultimate year leave us on a mammoth twist? That’s the suggestion from series star Maisie Williams, claiming “We’ve come to the climax and it’s rolling down to the end.”
Williams shared an anecdote with Time Out London on the cast potentially getting tattoos to commemorate their time on the series, noting that she’d agree to get one if Arya Stark made it to Season 8. In the process, she appeared to suggest Season 7 would end on a notable cliffhanger to the final six (or more) episodes:
It’s just kind of tumbling now,’ she tells us. ‘We’ve come to the climax and it’s rolling down to the end. It’s exciting. I really felt like at the end of last season everything was set up for how it was going to end. Every character came to a little junction in their lives. Now we’re all going to crash down together to however this show ends.’
What else can we expect? ‘A huge cliffhanger,’ she laughs.
Elsewhere of Game of Thrones Season 7, a list of directors for the year has been announced along with rumors of some major set pieces and battles, while at least a portion of filming will take place in Iceland. Harry Potter star Jim Broadbent has been confirmed for a “significant” role (though apparently not UFC star Conor McGregor), while several notable returns have likely been revealed, and one recast.
We’ll hear more of Game of Thrones Season 7 in the coming weeks and months, but what major moment should we expect to close the finale atop?
