A Fredericton Auxiliary Police Officer and his family just lost their home to a fire 5 days before Christmas. New Brunswickers are rallying around them though.

Robb Hartlen, his wife Jenn, 2 and a half-year-old son Reid and their dog Marley were not home when the blaze broke out on Thursday. Robb was volunteering at the Fredericton Food Bank when he got the call, only to come home to a completely destroyed house.

Robb is a community minded father who helped organize the fundraiser last year for the staff of the burned out Garrison Ale House. He regularly volunteers for local causes.

As much as this family is surrounded by friends and family and will no doubt be alright in the long run, this is a devastating time for them, especially with it being so close to Christmas.

This family has asked for nothing, but the community is rising to the occasion to help out a family to has stood for their community in many ways on a consistent basis.

The Hartlen family could really use clothing, toys, books, diapers. Monetary donations can be made at the Fredericton Police NAT office at 643 McLeod Avenue, across from Sobey's on Regent.

If you can help this family during this difficult time, please do so.
