Bath Fire Chief Stephen Armour said the call came in at around 3:15 p.m. of a fire at 3 Stewart Road, just off Route 105. The small bungalow was fully engulfed in flames when the Bath Fire Department arrived.

The Florenceville-Bristol Fire Department also responded to the scene to help battle the fire and Perth-Andover Fire Department provided a tanker.

Chief Armour said the homeowner is out of the area, and the young man staying in the house was at work when the fire broke out.  Two dogs lost their lives in the blaze.

Firefighters were on the scene until about 7:30 Wednesday evening. The house was a total loss, Armour said.  There no word on whether the home was insured.

The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
