
1 Man is Dead, 1 in Custody After a Weekend Shooting in Portland
Portland Police have a suspect in custody after a deadly shooting in Portland over the weekend.
What Happened?
It was just after 1:00 Sunday morning when police were called to the area of 263 St. John Street in Portland for a report of a disturbance that left a person injured. When officers arrived they found Raoul Mapendo Tshiyuka, 30, of Portland who had been shot. Tshiyuka was transported to Maine Medical Center where he later died.
An autopsy was performed by the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner and it was determined that Tshiyuka died from a gunshot wound. HIs death was ruled a homicide.

How Did Police Find the Suspect?
Investigators quickly identified a person of interest and put out a statewide request to locate. The suspect's vehicle was found by the South Portland Police in a driveway at 77 Wainwright Circle East. Officials executed a search warrant at 66 Wellesley Estates in Portland but, while they were conducting that search, officers received a call from the suspect informing them that he was at 224 Ocean Avenue in Portland.
Who Was Arrested?
Abdirahman Mahmoud, 36, was taken into custody without incident and has been charged with murder. He's being held without bail at the Cumberland County Jail.
