Lincoln Public Safety Director Dan Summers tells us the explosion occurred shortly after 7 a.m. in the recovery area of Lincoln Paper and Tissue.   Fire crews from Lincoln, Lowell and Mattawamkeag responded.  Summers said there were no reported injuries.

Mill safety personnel have contained the area where the boiler exploded and will now wait 12 hours for fumes to dissipate before deeming it safe, according to Summers.

Firefighters remain on standby to monitor the situation at the plant on Katahdin Avenue.

Lincoln Paper and Tissue employs about 350 people.
