Eva Callioras, the thirteen-year-old daughter of Stephen Callioras and Roxanne Poole, of Easton, received the trophy for the overall champion in the Benevolent and Protective Order of Elks’ Region One (New England) Soccer Shoot Goal Shooting Contest held in Nashua, New Hampshire on November 4.

In winning the overall championship, Eva achieved the highest score while competing in the goal scoring grid competition for all youths, boys and girls, under age 14 and over age 9.  Eva also received a trophy for winning the division for girls ages 12 and 13.  Eva was representing the Presque Isle Elks, Lodge #1954.

In order to qualify to compete at the regional level, Eva was the champion in her division at the Presque Isle Elks, Lodge Soccer Shoot held at the University of Maine at Presque Isle on September 24, 2017, as well as the Maine Elks’ Northern District Soccer Shoot held in Bangor on October 8, 2017, and the Maine Elks’ Association State Soccer Shoot held in Augusta on October 15, 2017.

Other area youth also won championships at the Maine Elks Association’s State Soccer Shoot, thereby qualifying to compete at the New England level, namely Raiden Cochran, Amelia Callnan, and Marissa Barton representing the Houlton Elks Lodge, and Braydon Amero and Dawson Kinney, representing the Presque Isle Elks Lodge.

At the Region One Soccer Shoot, Dawson Kinney, son of Kim Kinney, of Presque Isle, was third in the 12 and 13 year-old boys’ division.  Raiden Cochran won the regional championship in the 8 and 9 year-old boys’ division and Amelia Callnan was the third-place winner in the 10 and 11 year-old girls’ division.
