The Houlton boys gave top-seed George Stevens fits at times in their quarterfinal match-up Tuesday afternoon, but when the buzzer sounded, the defending state champion Eagles came away with a solid win.

Senior Taylor Schildroth scored 23 points in the 55-43 win, which punched the Eagles ticket to a semifinal contest against Fort Kent on Friday at the Cross Insurance Center in Bangor.

The No. 9 Warriors were led by Keegan Gentle and Cameron Cleary, each of whom scored 12 points.

For the Eagles, senior Max Mattson added 9 points.

The Eagles improve to 18-1. The Shiretowners finish the season at 14-5.

Up next: George Stevens will play Fort Kent in the Class C semifinals at 8:35 p.m. on Friday at the Cross Insurance Center in Bangor.
