The Augusta Police Department said Billyjack Curtis from Augusta was pronounced dead at the scene.
Man’s Body Located by Police at a Residence
His body was located after officers responded to a call at a residence on Flagg Street around 11:15 pm Monday night.
Body Taken for an Autopsy at the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner
The body was transported to the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner in Augusta for an autopsy.
Cause and Manner of Death Determined to be a Homicide by Gunshot
“The cause of death has been determined to be a gunshot wound, and the manner of death a homicide,” Shannon Moss, Public Information Officer, Maine Department of Public Safety.
No Danger to the Public, According to Maine Department of Public Safety
Officials said there was no danger to the public and more information will be released.
Major Crimes Unit Involved in the Homicide Investigation
The Maine State Police Major Crimes Unit – Central was assisting in the ongoing investigation.
