Sgt Jesse Knott was serving in Afghanistan and going through the pain of losing two friends in a suicide attack, when he found Koshka - a green-eyed cat who ended up saving his life.

Koshka was barely alive when Knott found her and took him in. Since, active duty soldiers can’t have animals, Knott kept his little friend in his office. For several months, Knott nursed Koshka back to life.

He said that his green eyes reminded him of Oregon, his hometown. When he was going through some rough times, Koshka wouldn’t let him ‘stew.’

‘He kept reminding me to take care of him,’ Knott said.

Knott, didn’t want to leave his best-friend behind in Afghanistan, so a local man volunteered to drive Koshka to Kabul. Knott’s parents then paid $3,000 to have the cat flown to Oregon, where he lives now.
