Caribou, Maine: The Nation’s Hot Spot
Caribou, Maine was one of the hottest spots in the U.S. on Tuesday. It feels good to say that, especially with Caribou’s reputation as one of nation’s perennial winter cold spots. According to the National Weather Service, the high temperature Tuesday was 85°F.
It’s was also the third straight day that the thermometer hit 80 or higher in Caribou. That’s a warm stretch that hasn’t come this way so early in the season since 1999 when it was 80+ degrees from May 3-6.
The weather service says typically, the first 80 degree day is not observed at Caribou until around May 23rd.
On top of the early spring heat wave, Caribou has seen no measurable precipitation since April 14th. Cooler temperatures and showers are forecast for at least the next four days. But in the meantime, enjoy this day in the sun!
