Blaine Woman Charged with Auto Theft in Houlton
Houlton police arrested a Blaine woman Tuesday evening shortly after she allegedly stole a vehicle that was parked in-town Houlton.
Police Chief Timothy DeLuca said that at 5:07 p.m. Tuesday, officers responded to a report of a theft of a motor vehicle on Bangor Street. The victim had parked his vehicle and returned a few moments later to discover it was missing.
Houlton Police Officers Matthew Quint, Travis Smith and Jasmine Cyr checked the area, in addition to “reporting out” the vehicle description to other agencies. Chief DeLuca said a surveillance camera in the area had captured footage of the theft, later confirming the suspect’s involvement.
Police spotted the stolen vehicle moments later heading down Bangor Street near Houlton Water Company. Officer Quint initiated a traffic stop and questioned the driver, who was identified as 28-year-old Colleen Grinnell of Blaine.
Grinnell was arrested and charged with Unauthorized Taking or Transfer (a Class B felony), Operating While License Suspended or Revoked, and a warrant for Failure to Appear.
She was held on bail and later taken to the Aroostook County Jail, DeLuca said.
