Nathan Smith of Blaine was traveling east on the Robinson Road in a 1998 Toyota Corolla when he crossed into the opposite lane, according to information provided by Trooper Nick Casavant. Smith’s car struck a westbound 2013 Chevrolet Silverado operated by 19-year-old Spencer Garrison of Blaine.

State police say Smith died at the scene. Garrison was treated on site and released.

Trooper Adam Stoutamyer responded to the collision, along with Mars Hill Fire Department and Crown Ambulance. The Robinson Road was closed for approximately four hours Saturday evening while the accident was investigated and the roadway cleared.

Neither driver was wearing a seat belt, police said.  Both vehicles were significantly damaged in the collision. The investigation is continuing.

The crash was reconstructed by Sgt. Darren Foster of the Maine State Police Traffic Division.
