Have you always wanted to go on a whale watch but just haven't made the time to do so?

I had the opportunity to go on a whale watch in Bar Harbor this past Sunday, and let me tell you, if you haven't done it, you definitely should!

My husband and I went on the whales and puffins tour aboard a massive boat belonging to Bar Harbor Whale Watch Company. We steamed out to sea passing lobster boat and traps, several cruise ships and islands. We stopped the boat alongside Petite Manan Island to view puffins and other birds, and then we headed offshore to the whale watching grounds. We saw 5 or 6 massive whales traveling together, which is apparently pretty rare to see.

You don't realize how massive these creatures are until you see them up close. Our tour guide said that they were about 65 feet long.

We watched the whales for a bit and headed back to shore. All told, the tour was about 4 hours. The weather couldn't have been more perfect! Although, it was about 20 degrees colder when we got further out to sea.

If you have the opportunity to go on a whale watch, I would definitely recommend doing so.

Townsquare Media has a deal going right now where you get a great deal when purchasing whale watch tickets from Bar Harbor Whale Watch! You'll save some serious cash!
