Bangor Maine Fire Department is Mourning the Loss of One of Their Own

Members of the Bangor Fire Department and the community, at large, is mourning the loss of Van Peursem, who was known by his colleagues as the 'Senior Man,' after joining the department in 1989.

William 'Billy' Van Peursem took his own life last week.

The Greater Bangor Maine Community is Invited to Lt VanPeursem's Celebration of Life

The Bangor Fire Department announced on its Facebook page that a Celebration of Life is planned for Saturday, from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. at the Bangor Elks Lodge, on Odlin Road. The community is invited to attend, to pay their respects and show support for VanPeursem's family, friends, and colleagues.

People are encouraged to dress casually and sign a memory book, that will be available. Anyone who is unable to attend can send their photos of written memories to poversmith@chcs-me.org.

In Lieu of Flowers, Donations are Being Accepted for Lt VanPeursem's Family

Rather than flowers, people are encouraged to make a donation to the Bangor Professional Firefighters in VanPeursem's memory. All contributions will go directly to his family.
