A packed gym in Caribou watched County seniors shine in the Bob White Aroostook League All-Star Games. Ava Lerman scored 29, Maggie Mahan had 26, and Landon Belanger dropped 30 in a fun season sendoff.

Fort Kent won its first boys basketball state championship, beating Maranacook 70-63. The Warriors opened on a 20-2 run, led 23-7 after one, and closed it out late behind Aden Jeffers’ 30 points and Finn Kelly’s clutch finish.

Athlete of the Winter nominations are open now through next Thursday at 9pm. We’ll recognize one male and one female winner from each winter sport. Nominate a student-athlete here

Valley beat Easton 77-46 to win the Class S boys state championship. The Cavaliers opened on a 14-2 run and led 24-10 after one, then held a 45-28 halftime lead. Mason Pelletier scored 26 for Easton, while Harry Lewis had 29 for Valley.

As the final buzzer sounded, certain players emerged as stars, earning their spot on the coveted All-Tournament Team.

Valley beat Wisdom 48-30 to win the Class S girls state championship. The Cavaliers led 13-3 after one and 26-12 at halftime behind strong defense. Ava Lerman scored 20 for Wisdom as the Lady Pioneers finished 20-2.

Three County teams play for state titles Saturday: Wisdom at 11:05am, Easton around 12:45pm, and Fort Kent around 8:45pm. Full preview with tourney numbers here, plus recaps and results on 101.9 The Rock all day.

Easton’s Raiden Cochran is the Winter Week Eleven Athlete of the Week after scoring 16 points for the Northern Maine Class S champion Bears. Athlete of the Winter nominations open Saturday afternoon through March 5.
