An Aroostook County man accused of abusing two children at a traveling petting zoo has been arrested in Alabama.

Police detectives charged 48-year-old Daryl Raymond, Jr. of Stockholm, Maine on Saturday. Raymond worked with the Jungle Safari Petting Zoo, according to a press release from the Florence, Alabama Police Department.

WAFF-TV reports that the zoo’s owner said as soon as he was approached by the alleged victim’s grandmother on Friday, he notified police.

Raymond is charged with two counts of Sexual Abuse of a Child under the Age of Twelve. He was being held at the Lauderdale County Detention Center in Alabama.

Florence Police Chief Ron Tyler said the petting zoo has voluntarily shut down and is leaving town.
